Through A Lens: Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech

During my time in Marrakech, I had the chance to visit the famous Jardin de Majorelle, a beautiful botanical garden in the middle of the African city. Housing a variety of over 300 plants, the garden is a refuge from the bustle of the city and a source of inspiration for its visitors.

Despite the 52°C heat in the city, I found the visit to the garden like entering an oasis – the sound of water running over stone, birds chirping in tropical trees and visitors talking in hushed voices, giving the garden a magical feeling.

My favourite moment was watching the man above, himself dressed entirely in blue, meticulously painting the garden wall in the famed majorelle blue.

This garden is a momentous task, to which I give myself entirely. It will take my last years from me and I will fall, exhausted, under its branches, after having given it all my love.
