THE BALTIC BAKEHOUSE
I'm kicking off my UK themed posts with a little mention of Baltic Bakehouse in Liverpool - partly because it was the first place I had breakfast during the trip, and partly because I still dream about their delicious BLTs. I've found it quite difficult to find a good loaf of sourdough in Berlin; it's shocking, seeing as though Germany is known for so many good loafs of bread! So returning to the UK and sinking my teeth into a good sourdough was beyond amazing.
Situated in the heart of the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool (which is surely named so due to shipping routes to the Baltic Sea?), the bakery-meets-café is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. Selling magnificent loaves of bread and offering an array of delicious treats like sausage butties and sticky buns, it is a great place to have a hearty snack or kick of your day.
The interior is a really refreshing take on the typical café look - no twee artworks or overstyled leather sofas are to be found here - instead you encounter bags of flour piled up on the floor and a nice selection of homemade curds on the shelves.
If there was one place I would wish to have in Berlin, it would most certainly be Baltic Bakehouse!
