SPRING CLEANERS

Recently I have found myself spending my weekends off at home. With a busy and exhausting schedule in the week, I never manage to get home before it's dark and therefore want to make the most of seeing some natural light in my own four walls. This also sheds light *pun intended* on the terrible mess I leave throughout the week. I'm not a messy person at all and used to not be able to go to bed before tidying my room. Since moving into a whole flat however, it has become easier than ever to just shut the mess out (in this case it's as simple as shutting the living room door). With a storm hitting Berlin and no plans to go outside, it was time to do a proper spring clean - for the first time since moving in, I finally had a look through all my old makeup and skincare and parted ways with a lot of out of date cosmetics and items I simply didn't use anymore (my sister was more than happy to receive a little 'care-package').

So let me be clear, I am a sucker to appealing packaging. Having studied Graphic Design at university, nothing gets me to spend money quite as quickly as good branding. But some products just don't work for me, break me out (I have extremely sensitive skin) or are too aggressive.

So I urge you all to look at your skincare and makeup collections and thrift out all the old things you haven't used in months/years. Making a note of the use-by dates of your products is really important, too - I found a foundation that was two years old (!) and have no idea how it survived all my moves. If you find anything that is still in date but unwanted, it can be donated to a friend or a family member; just because you don't get on with it/like it, doesn't mean it can't work for someone else. Go forth and spring clean!
