SATURDAY THROUGH A LENS #9
Because last week's Saturday Through A Lens post was shamefully disregarded, I know I have to make it up to you with an extra special post this week. Luckily I happened to go to Lake Tegel yesterday. A short 40 - 50 minute bike ride from my house, it is the second largest lake in Berlin and also counts as one of the cleanest lakes.
Having prepared a pack lunch fit for kings and with lots of magazines and books in tow, I made my way to the lake. Even though there is shorter routes, I chose to follow the scenic route along the Berlin-Spandau ship canal, making only a quick stop at the Plötzensee - a small lake right in the city. The bike ride in total took me about an hour and a half, including lots of stops to take photos and enjoy the sun.
I wish all weekends could be spent that way! Lying in the grass by the lake and reading Elle Decoration and the latest copy of Apartamento was divine.
The day was finished with an hour-long boat tour around the many islands in Lake Tegel and an ice cream bowl at Florida. What a day! Having cycled ca 36 km overall, I am convinced that I deserved it!
What did you get up to on Saturday?
