Coming Up Roses - The Date

Happy Valentine's Day! After sharing my treat routine with you, it's about time I showed you what I use to make myself look presentable on dates - as I'm a firm believer of "less is more", this is more of a barely there makeup look mixed with some luxurious products - and no red lipstick in sight!

Whenever I want to really treat myself, I apply Byredo's Gypsy Water Body Lotion. The soft scent lasts all day but isn't overpowering. Although I often leave my nails bare, a special date calls for some colour. Kure Bazaar's Or Rose is perfect for the occasion and comes in a beautiful rose-hue that fits the Valentine's theme very well.

But let's get started on the makeup! As I'm no fan of heavy bases, I'm always on the search for light-weight foundations that have long staying powers and sit well on my skin. Und Gretel's Lieth foundation in Porcelain Rose has been gracing my makeup stash for a few weeks now and I'm really impressed by it. A strictly organic product, it gives you a natural glow and manages to stay around all day and is best applied with a foundation brush, like the Shu Uemura Natural 18 Foundation Brush.

Next up, I apply RMS Beauty's Living Luminizer to highlight my cheekbones and brow bone. Afterwards, I sweep some of Mac's Tenderling Blush over my cheeks to give myself a little colour. It might not look like much, but it's the perfect shade for paler girls and reminds me a lot of Nars Douceur, which has been discontinued.

Today is all about the eyes, in my humble opinion. To get started, I curl my eyelashes with the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler and brush my eyebrows with a spoolie, before applying the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette. Having been graced with thick brows, the pencil's waxy consistency is perfect for keeping unruly hairs in place.

Although I often opt for a toned back eyeshadow look, today is all about exaggerating my green feline eyes, so I apply the By Terry Crayon Khol Terrybly in Brown Secret in a fine line just above the lash line and smudge it with a brush. Next up, I apply a sheer wash of the Und Gretel Imbe Eyeshadow in Seashell all over the lids. As I'm fair-skinned and fair-haired, black mascaras can often look too harsh on me, so I prefer to use brown ones. The Dior Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Chestnut is perfect for lengthening my lashes and stays put all day.

Now all that I need is the Dior Addict Lip Glow - after all, who wants to wear lipstick when you're going to be kissing all evening, right?!

What makeup will you be wearing tonight?
